FENG SHUI PRINCIPALS

When Feng Shui principals are practiced correctly it will often turn chaos into being bare able and generally enhances one’s good fortune even more.

The principals of Feng Shui can be practiced in your home, garden and office environment. One of the most fundamental principals of Feng Shui is Yin and Yang and it supports all of the basic formulas of Feng Shui.

Yin and Yang are opposites that always depend upon each other for balance. Yin and yang have their own attributes however they are mutually dependable upon each other. Within yin there is always a part of yang and vice versa. For example, in the middle of a cold and dreary winter (yin) there is always a seed waiting to blossom (yang). In the desert heat (yang) suddenly there can be an oasis (yin).

Hence, the Chinese believe that Yin and Yang interact with each other continuously. This first observation was seen through the changes of seasons. Then expanding on these season observations they added the compass directions and eventually further explained these nature cycles as the five element cycles.

Spring is a time for new seedlings to bloom (new wood), summer is the time when everything is in full bloom and the sun is beating down (fire and heat), Autumn brings the cool change of weather and tree/leaf colour changes (earth colour tones), and Winter brings the rain and snow (water).

From the above seasonal changes we can see how the creative and destructive cycles of the five elements began and how they interact with each other.
